استكمالًا للتحضيرات لعقد ندوة حقوقية متخصصة في نقابة المحامين في طرابلس والشمال تحت عنوان «قانون الإعدام في لبنان بين التشريع والعدالة وحقوق الإنسان»، وبالتنسيق مع الوكالة الدولية للأنباء المعتمدة من قبل المجلس الدولي لحقوق الإنسان (IHRC)، عُقد اجتماع مع نقيب المحامين في طرابلس والشمال الأستاذ مروان ضاهر.
وحضر الاجتماع مسؤول هيئة الحريات والأمن المجتمعي في لبنان السيد جاك مطر، وعضو الهيئة السيد عامر مطر، حيث جرى بحث التحضيرات والأطر القانونية والحقوقية المقترحة للندوة.
وخلال اللقاء، تم تسليم النقيب ضاهر كتابًا رسميًا يتضمن طلب عقد الندوة، على أن يقوم مجلس نقابة المحامين بدراسة الطلب واتخاذ القرار المناسب بشأنه خلال أول اجتماع له الأسبوع المقبل.
ومن المتوقع أن تتناول الندوة الأبعاد التشريعية والقانونية لعقوبة الإعدام في لبنان، ومدى انسجام تطبيقها مع مبادئ العدالة وحقوق الإنسان، إضافة إلى مناقشة الإشكاليات المرتبطة بالتشريع والممارسة القضائية والالتزامات الدولية ذات الصلة.
As part of the preparations for a specialized human rights seminar at the Tripoli and North Lebanon Bar Association, under the title “The Death Penalty in Lebanon Between Legislation, Justice and Human Rights,” and in coordination with the International News Agency for Human Rights, accredited by the International Human Rights Council (IHRC), a meeting was held with the President of the Tripoli and North Lebanon Bar Association, Mr. Marwan Daher.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Jack Matar, Head of the Freedom and Community Security Authority in Lebanon, and Mr. Amer Matar, a member of the Authority. Discussions focused on the proposed framework and preparations for the specialized legal and human rights seminar.
During the meeting, an official letter formally requesting the organization of the seminar was submitted to President Daher. The request will subsequently be reviewed by the Bar Association’s Council, which is expected to take the appropriate decision at its first meeting next week.
The proposed seminar is expected to examine the legislative and legal dimensions of the death penalty in Lebanon, its relationship with the principles of justice and human rights, and the legal and judicial challenges surrounding its application, alongside Lebanon’s relevant international human rights obligations.
